American Hero Research Project

W had a grand finale to our American Hero Research Project on Friday. Over the course of the past month, we have been learning about American Heroes in our social studies textbook and becoming experts on our own American Hero. We started with researching our hero as part of homework with our parents. Then we used our research to make a book about our hero which we presented on Friday. Additionally, we performed a short play about the Wright brothers. This project enabled us to use many skills across the content areas. We read, wrote and drew about our hero during Language Arts; wrote an acrostic poem about our hero; used our math skills and creative imaginations in making the scenery and props for the play and our computer skills for research and creating the cover for our reports. Everyone did a fantastic job and we especially appreciate the support of the parents during the research process and for attending our exhibit!
