One of our favorite times of the school day is when we have our chapter book read aloud. After quiet reading time and before Writing Workshop we have a snack and read a chapter. We just finished David Eliot's "Evangeline Mudd and the Golden-Haired Apes of the Ikkinasti Jungle." At the end of the book there is a recipe for a fruit salad that we tried. Part of the recipe's directions is that you have to eat it with your fingers (like the golden-haired apes)for it to taste right. We did and it was delicious!
